Acer One D150 kernel panics with Voodoo 9.5.0 v1.0 on cpus=2
I have had no end of bad luck getting the Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel straight booting without setting the cpu=1 flag. Screenshots won't matter, the panic always notes cpu (1) with a different error. (e.g. its not always seatbelt)
I've tried XxX 10.5.6, iDeneb 10.5.6 and iPC 10.5.6. (all the latest or final) In every case I need to boot with 1 cpu enabled. The most frustrating thing is I've been reading multiple tutorials for the D150 that make no mention of the single cpu flag, or do but only in relation to the Vanilla kernel. Can someone fill in the blank for me and point out what the problem is? I have zero issues with 10.5.6 being incompatible with my D150, but there are a bunch of reports of it working with cpus=2, and each distro I've tried and guide I've followed has the Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel. I also understand that most if not all 10.5.5. distros also ship with the Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel, and there's a lot of luck going around for that distro version as well. I'm not whining, I just want to know if I should give up on hyperthreading support and move on to figuring out why my Ethernet doesn't work. Thanks! |
