Well, that method I suggested is based on the latest ATI kexts that are based off of Lion and have built in device detection, so I don't know if it will work with anything previous to 10.6.8 (I haven't tried myself). If you get the 10.6.8 combo update from Apple's website, you can install that on 10.6.0 and shouldn't have a problem.

Have you done any DSDT edits? If not, there are a few that are necessities for AMD Gigabyte boards. There is a CMOS fix, I think a USB fix or something like that, a Power button fix, etc. I did mine so long ago that I can't remember which ones I did.
