One thing i would add is that it may be better to partition your first drive so that vista and Osx are on the same drive then leave the other drives as ntfs, that way you get all the storage which is shareable to both systems, Just ensure that you install the ntfs kext to allow you to do this in OSx.
Also by installing both on one drive it will stop a lot of the problems you had.
I realise that it's maybe not what you intended but it is easier to do.
