GA-G31M-E2SL 10.5.8 Tutorial (step-by-step)

Well, to start off, I'd like to thank EVERYONE, here at InfinteMac, and also at InsanelyMac, for showing me the basic concepts of a Hackintosh. This process is mainly idiot-proof, and targeted for people who were like me before (noobs).

Parts -
Gigabyte Ga-g31m-e2sl motherboard. (Duh!)
I did this install with a C2D 7500 processor
Video Card - (I used a evga 8400 gs)
Sata hard drive (I had one of these laying around, and IDE ones take too much time to set up)
DVD - Drive (IDE/SATA)
1GB+ RAM
XxX 10.5.6 leopard distro

Now, here's the tricky part. As you may have read, the rev.2 of this motherboard has a network chipset which is not compatible with osx.
I recieved one of these boards, and I bought the Dynex DX-E102 wired network card, which uses the rtl8139 chipset, and works great with osx. I bought it from Cowboom.com for 7 dollars shipped.

Well anyway, I started out with an XxX 10.5.6 installation distro. Look it up on one of the torrent sites : kickasstorrents.com; thepiratebay.org, etc.

once you are done downloading the .iso, burn it to a disc at low speeds (4x, 2x, 1x). So now that you have it on disc, lets begin!

Go to BIOS and change boot order to DVD-Drive first.
Insert your XxX distro.
Boot into it, press enter at Darwin, and then wait a min or two for the setup to load.
You will now see a box w/ the leopard background. Thats good!
Press next, and then at the top you will see a bar. Click on utilities - > Disk Utility.
Select your HD in Disk Utility, and format it as Journaled (Can't remember exact name).
While you select journaled, press options and choose GUID Partition table. Then press OK to format your disk.

Great! The disk formatting is over!
Now, continue with the installation until you reach a screen that has a customize button on the left side of the window. Click it, and select the following kexts.

Sound - AppleAzaliaAudio, or something like that.
Video - I used nvInject 512 MB, use one that corresponds to your card
Network - Realtek rtl8139 generic
Tools - I took OSX86 Tools and EFI Studio

thats pretty much all you need to do! Press ok, and continue with installation. It will take about 20 minutes.

There you go! You are DONE!, well if you want 10.5.6, only. It has everything working sleep, qe/ci, blah blah blah, except restart. It hates me.

Now, if you want to install 10.5.8, download iDeneb 10.5.8 Combo Update, from your mac, and let it install. Don't mess around with any of the other files. It will reboot your computer, just to be safe, i pressed F8 at Darwin and booted -v -x. Now, you have a fully functional hackintosh except for one thing - sleep.

now, sleep works automatically in 10.5.6, no kexts needed, but for 10.5.8 you just need one simple kext.
Go to
http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/inde...s-1058-install

and download his fixes. Unzip, and go to the Sleep folder. Now that you know where it is, open up OSX86Tools, and press install kexts. Browse to the sleep kext, Voila! It will restart, and then when you boot it back up, you will have fully functioning sleep!

Thanks Thireus!

I'm doing this guide from memory, so if you have any additions/corrections, just post em!
