How do the clone makers do it?

Just wondering how companies like PearC and Pystar manage to make systems with OS X installed and make it so you can update the OS as normal without any problems? Do they use some sort of boot loader and if so, which one and is that all they use? Is there some special hardware they are using ?

Thanks. I thought they might be using some form of modified Boot-132 & Chameleon but I thought there might be more to it.

I read Prasys article and I understand why he's a bit miffed but, why couldn't someone from the community have done the same thing as Pystar, make it free to everyone and thereby scupper their plans to make $50 out of other people's work?

Unfortunately what seems dead easy to people like Prasys and others in the community is actually a complete dogs dinner of mind boggling complexity for many and so $50 for a one stop solution is an attractive proposition....or even buying a clone from PearC or Pystar.

If you want to stop companies like Pystar and PearC just get that magic install disc out the door and it will be curtains for the cloners

someone could have done it from the osx86 community. a bit issue with pystar is they don't credit a shit ton of people. they have stolen stuff from everywhere, and don't give credit where credit is due

i'd bet money that you can already find that disc on torrents or newsgroups

Yeah I don't understand why they are so reluctant to give credit. It's the decent thing to do. People have put a lot of hours and hard work into this and it wouldn't hurt just to give a mention to those people. Plenty of Linux distro's charge for the end product where it has been packaged with user manuals and support etc. It's not that people mind Pystar charging I guess, more that they pass it off as all their own work.

Will have to hunt around for a torrent me thinks
