Notebook for HD editing
Hi all,
I'm planning to buy a customized notebook absoultely not for gaming but for HD/SD editing and playing. I'm eyeing on the following ones: 1. Lenovo W510 Intel Core i7-820QM Processor (8M Cache, 1.73 GHz) Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64 15.6" HD+ Anti-Glare Display with LED Backlight and WWAN Antenna NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M Graphics with 1GB DDR3 memory 4 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM) 128 GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA Multi Recorder Optical Drive (12.7mm) 9 cell 2.8Ah Li-Ion Battery - Dual Mode Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (3x3 AGN) Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradable I'm not sure on the HD+. Is it 1920x1080 Full HD? Also, is Quadro FX 880M supported in Snow Leopard with QE/CI hardware accelerated?, Finally, can I swap the Intel Centrino N-6300 with a Dell Wireless mini 1505 and is this Dell card supported natively? 2. Dell Alienware M15x Base System Color: Alienware M15x, Cosmic Black DFBLKN 1 [224-6812] 1 Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-820QM Quad Core Processor 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache) 820QM 1 [317-2398] 2 Operating System: Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English AW7HP6E 1 [420-6436][420-9691][421-1400] 11 Video Card: 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M GTX260 1 [320-0938] 6 LCD Display: 15.6-inch WideFHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED LCD1080 1 [320-0936] 5 Memory: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz – 2 x 4096MB 8GB133 1 [317-2407] 3 Hard Drive: 128GB Solid State Drive 128SSD 1 [341-9755] 8 Optical Drives: Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW) BDCOM 1 [313-8569][421-1304][421-1305] 16 Primary Battery: Primary - 9-cell (85Watt) Lithium-Ion Battery BTTRY9C 1 [312-0206] 27 Sound: Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio IS 1 [313-8944] 17 Bluetooth: Internal Bluetooth 2.1 Mini-Card - 2.1 Enhanced Data Rate TM370 1 [430-0684] 606 Wireless: Wireless 1520 802.11n Half Mini-Card DW1520 1 [430-3774] 19 The Dell Alienware M15x has GTX 260M. Is this GPU supported in SL with QE/CI hardware accelerated? Also, what about the wireless card 1520? Netkas has some info here: http://netkas.org/?p=105 Although both the notebooks are gaming ones, I thought either of these would give me the best bang for the buck in doing HD tasks. If there is a cheaper alternative with the same specs and full support for SL, I'll love to take it. I already posted a question in this forum for Dell Alienware m15x couple of months back but didn't get a feedback. I thoght I can try again and some genius would reply. Appreciate help.
