nVidia 7600GT 256mb - No QE/CI Support
I installed 10.5.5 on a Dimension 4600 using iAtkos v5i, AppleSMBIOS netkas, ToH kernal, and EFI Boot v9. The only way I could even get it to boot was using NVkush, and that would only enter safe boot. I tried a hundred other options to get my EVGA 7600GT 256mb AGP card fully accelerated (Quarts and Core support), but the furthest I got was the ability to boot in normal mode with no acceleration support. I'm in desperate need for a fix, I am SO tired of reinstalling the OS (iAtkos takes 45min to install, and I wind up unbootable at least 4 times a day while trying diff solutions).
Can somebody tell me how to make this work. If theres a better installer for 10.5.5 then iAtkos 5i for my setup that would allow easy installation of the card(and hopefully faster) or if you have a method to install the kexts/EFI strings/etc. that will make it work, please tell me. Also share on things to avoid or delete before the installation of the card (like deleting certian kexts before installing a new one). My setup is as follows: Dimension 4600 Intel V/100 Network P4 3ghz SSE2 Processor Intel SATA 120 GB HDD with XP/OSX Dualboot SoundBlaster Live Value! Soundcard EVGA nVidea 7600GT 256mb AGP (the only thing I'm having issues with) Please, oh please help me! |

I have the same video card PCIe.
Try EFI strings, EFI Studio makes it fairly brainless to use EFI strings. Be sure to uninstall all your video drivers from prior attempts. Otherwise, I recall reading AGP being problematic for OSx86. iPC 10.5.6 Lenovo ThinkCentre M41 Pentium D -- VooDoo Kernel 9.5.0 Audigy 2 ZS Works!!. 7600GT EFI String (EFI Studio!).Everything works (ethernet, SATA, USB, IDE drives). |

Now, when you say remove all other drivers, do you mean just the NVkush kext, or all VGA driver kexts (GeForce7XXX.pckg, etc) Theres about 40 of those package kexts in the extensions folder along with NVkush.kext, NVResman(somethin like that, dunno for certain, in the process of reinstalling atm...AGAIN V,V) I also got a tip from another forum about using LeoVid kexts, what do you think bout it?

Yes, remove all those kexts you installed to get the 7600 working. If you have lost track of all that, suggest you wipe and reinstall without any video "drivers" (i.e. kexts etc) selected for your install. I recommend 10.5.6 iPC distro btw. iPC 10.5.6 Lenovo ThinkCentre M41 Pentium D -- VooDoo Kernel 9.5.0 Audigy 2 ZS Works!!. 7600GT EFI String (EFI Studio!).Everything works (ethernet, SATA, USB, IDE drives). |

Is iPC 10.5.6 easily upgradeable like iAtkos 5I? If so, then Ill definately give it a shot. Will my Hac boot without any video drivers??

After you remove the injectors, then you can use the EFI string. There's no guarantee it will work. You may want to add your device ID to some of the drivers themselves. Search in Genius Bar, you will find my 7600GS 512MB guide, it should work similarly for your specific card. Also, only the really old AGP cards and slots are problematic. Any AGP 3.0 4x/8x slot and compatible card will work fine. Otherwise, get a new motherboard. AGP is a pain as Hara said. For very little cash you can get some old and cheap motherboard and move past this... iPC 10.5.6 Lenovo ThinkCentre M41 Pentium D -- VooDoo Kernel 9.5.0 Audigy 2 ZS Works!!. 7600GT EFI String (EFI Studio!).Everything works (ethernet, SATA, USB, IDE drives). |

Did you try Editing in you device ID with NVKush ... look at this blog site .... you may have to google it ... warp101blogspot look in January archive there is a post there which SHOULD fix you up .... Once you do the steps shown, you can enable QE/CI and then go to OSX86 Tools and enable QuartzGL ... I am pasting link here, but it many not come thru .... http://warp101.blogspot.com/2009/01/...or-nvkush.html Also, in the same blog are 2 posts (both in February) as to how to install 10.5.6 iPC Final (ppf5 ) which are very good ... I am using PPF5, with NVidia video card(s), and can get all the video working with either NVKush (not on that package ... not on iPC distribution),... (just copy from your current HackMac to USB and install with kexthelper after installing with no video selected, or just use NVDarwin and choose your card there in iPC ppf5 install .... all video working great with either of these ...
