Hey guys,
strange problem: every time I install(ed) OSx86 and EyeTV3, at first EyeTV worked perfectly with my Hauppauge HVR 900 stick. But after a while and editing some kexts (especially the video drivers) EyeTV started crashing at start. Because I had to reinstall OSx86 a couple of times, I got it every time working, but also it started every time after a while to crash again. Now I've got a perfect Leopard installation (10.5.2, Zeph of course) and at first EyeTV worked (like every time) perfectly, but then is started to crash again (after gotting work my second monitor with natit). So I decided to solve the problem - without any experience in error messages. I'll show you mine, I'm shure yo apple freaks and gurus can help me understanding this stuff. I already tried removing EyeTV completely, removing EyeTV kexts and installing EyeTV 2.5 also, but no success. Every time a crash at start. By the way: when my Hauppauge-Stick is plugged out, EyeTV doesn't crash. Thanks in advance, -crawle |

Have you tried using Marvins Utility, its in the utilities folder in applications.
You need to select number four, run it on the root of your main HD / After it finishes select the cupid file it creates and run it on the root again, To do this select number three patch. If you get errors as i do, you need to open the cpuid file in a text editor and remove the lines that give errors, they will be listed in the log file after running no three with errors, you pretty much need to remove everthing that has no cupid to patch. remember you need to untick simulate for it to patch properly. Good Luck I use Eyetv with no problems really. |

Hey gaz,
Thanks for your answer. I tried first to patch all binaries on my HD (option 4), everything went (nearly...) good. But than I tried to do it again with the cpuid file, no success. As you said, there were a few errors. I started to delete them from the cpuid, but I thought it could take hours to do this. I gave it up after a while. By the way, I had to reinstall Skype, because after the patching it didn't want to work anymore ;-) I looked on the error message again (the whole) and searched for the word "kext". One result; containing AppleUSB....kext. Would be logical, that something's wrong with the USB-Kext, wouldn't it? I mean, when I plug out the stick, EyeTV "works" (but without the word "TV" ^^). Maybe I've got the wrong USB-Kext. Can anyone recommend me one or similiar? Especially thanks to you gaz, I think I'm on the right way ... -crawle |

once you delete the few lines with no cupids the patch should work fine, I have five things that won't patch but they are not cupids, and they all work anyway.
There shouldn't be any usb-kext in the patch list, as it doesn't have cpuids in it. Just try again and slowly delete the lines from the top down in the cpuid file untill the patching is all successful. You'll know when it is. I use the elgato card, so im sorry but i can't comment on your card , although they are both Hauppauge made. Good Luck 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean.
