Hi!
I installed 10.5.2 amd. Install worked fine, I had to update a few kexts and grabbed the latest quicktime. Everything appears to work ok, except when i watch a movie trailer in front row it quits when the trailer ends. Anybody noticed this? Thanks! |

Nope, works well for me. I just watched the 10,000BC Trailer and then the Hot Fuzz DVD in Front Row. Worked like it should...

Not sure this will work but I had a similar problem, slowed down my memory timings slightly and now no problems.

I think it has something to do with quicktime. I have the latest version 7.4.1. I may reinstall the whole thing and stay away from updates.

Oh... Mine is 7.2.1 still. You may just need Marvin's... QT 7.4.1 may need a cpuid patch - can't hurt to try.

How do you use Marvin on the latest quicktime exactly? I can never get it right somehow.
Thank You! |

Run Marvins and select the second option (create a patcher package?) - let it search your entire install disk (might as well...)
Once it's done, it'll put a folder on your desktop Personally, I open the folder, find and copy "patcher" and "cpuid.txt" to my "root drive" (your "working" drive - the one you installed OSX to...) Restart (you need to boot into "single user mode") Press a key to stop the countdown type -s and hit Enter (to start single user mode) (it'll display lines of text and eventually stop at a "command prompt") type the following: ( hit Enter at the end of each line ) mount -uw / ./patcher ./cpuid.txt (lots of text saying what it's done) reboot (restarts the computer) -or- exit (quits single user mode and resumes booting into the OS (right?)) the computer will restart. (if you didn't move those 2 files out of the folder, you'll have to change the directory TO the folder before the "./patcher" command...) Thanks for the patching instructions. I was always using Marvins last option (patch all binaris) never worked.
I ran the patcher quicktime plays the trailer fine but front row still quits at the end of the trailer. I shouldn't update quicktime. I wasn't thinking. Anyways, Thanks for your help. 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean. Free credits ($100) for InfMac readers. |
