OS X Spyware
dont know if this is the right section, but i have encountered my first virus like program on OS X dunno how it happened but now whenever i try to access myspace i get redirected to ebay, on both firefox and safari, ive been able to narrow it down to my home drive because even when i restore my system drive with a backup that never had the issue i still get this problem. Does anyone know a solution for this problem or have a good virus scanner they could recommend?
Cheers, This is really bugging me Aydin iMac ::: Mac OS X 10.6.1 ::: Intel Core2Duo 2.93GHz ::: NVIDIA Geforce GT 120 256MB ::: 4GB DDR3 RAM Milanca Project ::: Mac OS X 10.6.1 Retail ::: Vanilla Kernel ::: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4GHz ::: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 256MB ::: 4GB DDR2 RAM ::: GIGABYTE GA-EP35C-DS3R |

Try to download another browser, let's say Opera, and see if you can go to MySpace without being redirected to eBay. Also, have you tried reinstalling the browsers? Hope that helps.

Check your /etc/hosts file. If there is a line that says something like
Code:
myspace.com 66.135.221.10 The line may have been added by a malicious program or it might be a friend's idea of a practical joke. But you can actually use that file to block ad servers and more if you want to, just google "hosts file" for more info. |
