Hi everybody its my first post, I have installed the 10.5.2 version and it works wonderfully, thanks for the release.

I have heard from somewhere that if you have xp installed on a seperate hard drive you can spoof vmware into thinking it is a bootcamp partition, anyone have any experience of this ?

I have been unable to get vmware to recognise my drive as bootable to install xp as a virtual machine.

Thanks in advance.....

Parallels works for me (on my system). However, you may experience some instability problems.

When I install vmware it automatically finds my windows xp partition and calls it bootcamp, I can't boot into it but I think in my case its because Time Machine partition is on the same drive as xp. It comes up with some error I can't remember what.
It's funny cos I was just thinking when did I last use xp? I can't remember but its weeks ago.
When I had linux I had a super stable system but would always end up back in windows cos there was something I needed, havent encountered this yet with osx.
Oops I rambling!

Parallels is only designed for Virtual, not Host, and mainly all virtual machines are meant to remain the same. You can run XP as host by dual booting with Leopard. =)

Hi there thanks for the responses, i installed vmware and it found boot camp partition, however it does not finish initializing it, I get a message saying that it is trying to mount partition but it never finishes,

I did however get it to mount under parallels, i just had to edit the plist. i found how to do this on another forum, not sure if it's appropriate to post a link here.

Parallels is quite sluggish but i have only one particular app to run off windows, so it'll do !

thanks for your help people. I'm really stoked about this scene !

you can discuss the plist here, no problem with that, simply change GenuineIntel with AuthenticAMD, that's all. =)
