alc883 kexts

i have an alc883 which needs a kext with vendor id 10de and hardware id 0774 its by nvidia anybody help?

are you sure it has this dev/hardware id? i think this alc serie should go with different id. will you make sure, under windows maybe, it has that id. we'll fix it easily then with taruga's hda patcher.

The id is 0x10ec0883. im not sure how i would get this working iv tried a few different things taruga myself.and the mobo is asus m3n78-eh.

download this zip file. you have ALCinject kext, alc883 linux codec dump and taruga's hda patcher.

When you unpack it drag and drop alc883 codec dump onto taruga patcher application icon, it will do the trick for applehda. Then use kexthelper to install alcinject.kext.

If you find any problems it might be cause your alc883 has different codec dump but i doubt it. If it is the case then you'll need some linux distro or liveCD like fedora or ubuntu to make a codec dump for yourself (pretty easy, by typing single line command). Later you can add efi string for your audio and get rid of alcinject.kext.

I ended up using a external usb soundcard i had to save trouble.

I didn't have the problems you did but I used the azalia driver for my alc883 because I was blind that day and didn't notice the alc883 driver on the disk and it worked fine (on leo4all and iPC)
