Here's full mobo specs:
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=238&l1=3&l2=15&l3= 0 CPU: Athlon 64 3700+ (SSE3 supported) Chip: VIA K8T800Pro + VT8237 HD: 2 IDE, 1 SATA OS: Mac_OS_X_Leopard_10.5.1_for_AMD_SSE2_SSE3_(32bits) (Rev1 I guess), installed on IDE Disk, /dev/disk2s3 What is done already: ApplePS2 kext installed from DVD's /System/Library/Extensions, skge added for Marvel Ethernet, AGPGart-2.2 (joblo) added, Nvinject-0.2.1 added Issue: Unable to boot in gui and complete installation (create users, etc.). Boot with -s goes fine, none of other options (-f -x "Graphics Mode"="640x480x32") are helpful, remove of all GeForce* + NV* have no effect at all. Boot has no segfaults, but just freezes on something like: "...mDNSResponder is unable to open/assign port for helper (or helper is unavailable)". I would highly appreciate any advise. Thanks. P.S. Tiger 10.4.8 updated to 10.4.11 from Apple combo + Pacifist works flawlessly (sleep, reboot and shutdown from keyboard power button are fine). |

Remove all the NV & Geforce kext and all for your ethernet adaptor, install them after install finishes

I wrote already that removal of Ge* & NV* have no impact on boot freeze. But ok, I even delete IONetworkingFamily to be exactly sure that there's nothing rolling on. It just doesn't help. imo - the reason is not there... The following also appears when I quit from -s:
mDNSKeychainGetSecrets error 2301 CFArrayRef 00000000 bla-bla-bla... Mach communication failed (ipc/send) and complains that helper could not open port are still on. |

I hope this can help you, boot with -s and go to /system/library/launchdaemons and delete( first backup) the mdnsresponder.plist and mdnsresponderhelper.plist, unplug the ethernet cable and boot again.

Ok. I erased /System/Library/Extensions* and copied it from DVD (at least dvd boots in gui all the way). Still no boot in GUI for setup completion.
Have anyone a clue for the reason of such behaviour? I can pastebin required system logs. Thanks. P.S. I saw a record in HCL that someone make a nice hummer kiss for my mobo and Leo... I wish to talk to that person... 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean. Free credits ($100) for InfMac readers. |
