Help! Cannot install from DVD
Hello friends of the OSX!
First: sorry for my bad English - I am from Austria and I know, it's not too good. But I try my best. After 15 years of Mac OS on Apple hardware I wanted to try, how it works on a Windows platform. I've a lot experience in Apple software, from OS 7 to 8 to 9 up to the new OSX 10.5.5 - but now I'm not even able to install it on my pc. I have downloaded three different versions, the Leo4all v5 Server for AMD/Intel, one earlier Leo4all with the 10.5.2 OSX and the IATKOS v4.1i All images are burned as a hybrid mac/pc disk on my Apple G5 under OSX 10.5.5 with Toast Titanium at low speed. I have prepared the first partition on my 2nd drive and made it active. Then I insert the DVD and restart. Everything works fine, the computer boots from DVD, the message comes"Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132 Chameleon v1.0.11" and I can continue or choose from some options with F8. Now there are 4 or 5 lines with loading messages but then the boot process stops, the installation fails and the pc restarts. And this is the same with all three disks. My configuration: Mainboard ASUS P5Q Pro Intel Core2Dou E8400 at 3,0 GHz Memory 2 GB DDR2 800 Video Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT I must admit, that I have not a great deal of experience with Windows platforms but I hope that I'm not the first who has these problems. I've searched all the forums but found no solution. Thanx |

First thanx for reply!
These are the messages I get when I start from DVD: Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132 - Chameleon v1.0.11 Build date: 2008-06-09 20:12:22 VESA v3.0 14 MB (NVIDIA) Press any key to start... And then: Loading Darwin/x86 Loading kernel mach_kernel Loading HFS+ file: [mach_kernel] from 4230a80. Loading HFS+ file: [mach_kernel] from 4230a80. LoadingDrivers: Loading from/System/Library/Extensions.mkext Loading HFS+ file: [/System/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230a80. Loading HFS+ file: [/System/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230a80. Starting Darwin/x86 Now the screen gets black, the installation stops, the computer restarts. I hope you have an idea, what I can do. Greetings! |

try booting with "-f -x -v"
"-f" this will force the Extensions to be loaded individually instead of as one within the Extensions.mkext file "-x" is the OS X safe mode "-v" is verbose mode so you can tell us more of what the system is telling you it is doing to load itself. ![]() |

First, sorry for my english
![]() I have the same problem that foggy. My computer is a notebook Packard Bell BG45 (1,86 dual core T2390, chipset and graphics are Intel). When I press any key (or F8 and any combination , -x -f -v) the screen shows some corrects lines (I have a Leo4allv3 in other machine) and It reboots. I have tried with leo4all v3 and leo4all v4.1, and both equal. Can you help me, please? Thanks! EDIT: I have tried with iATKOS v4a and i have the same problem (not with Vista or XP CD/DVD) Last edited by Antuan; 10-30-2008 at 05:15 PM. |

After a few attempts, I have come to here : http://leo4all.wikidot.com/know-issues
My system reboots right after EFI is initialized Some computers are just not able to run Leopard properly, this is mainly due to incompatibilities between the BIOS and Leopards ACPI platform. You can try a different BIOS revision, maybe you find one that works. Some people have success booting with cpus=1 bootflag at Darwin. I have tried it and now i'm installing Leopard! Regards |

Thanks Antuan... this is a good suggestion as well. This is the case with some of the SB700 chipset series motherboards too. It just happens to be this case with some boards.

solution to your problem...
Download and install the iDeneb 10.5.5, you should be able to find it on any torrent site.
Select the "acpi fix" and "ich07 chipset" from the options and install. Once installed press f8 to boot with options and type cpus=1 and press enter. Complete the setup and once in osx download the patcher from the following site. http://www.mediafire.com/?gwqe2g2udbw Install the Chameleon_v1012.pkg update and once complete create a DSDT.aml file using the DSDTPatcherGUI_1.0 2 application. In this application you need to select the "New HPET Option" and the "Apply DSDT patch to:" options and then select your drive from the drop down list. Now click "Run DSDT Patcher" Once the above is complete restart the laptop, OSX should load now with both CPUs working. Now all you need to do is get the sound, wireless, sleep and battery monitor working. I managed to get all of them working apart from the sleep, and wireless (i have now changed the wireless adapter though) but if anyone has any info on getting the sleep to work, or if you need any more help with the install on this laptop contact me [email protected] 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean.
