Help with Apple Updates

So I got Lawless running on my new mobo and cpu, finally haha, and I updated the kernel to Voodoo 1.0 which works awesome. I was suggested by a member from insanelymac to install the disabler.kext after installing voodoo so that I can get Apple Updates automatically. Well I used the Kext helper to install the disabler kext in the extentions folder and then I rebooted and thought that it worked (since I didn't get an error) and when I tried to install 10.5.5 through the Apple Update I get a kernel panic and I have to access to my machine. I have since then reinstalled Lawless again so how can I get disabler to work? Since it doesn't work with installing with kext helper.

Thanks

Stang

Disabler.kext and IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext have the same function... to disable the IntelCPUPowerManagement.kext file that Apple installs in their 10.5.5 update which causes kernel panics on AMD machines (maybe some Intel ones too, not sure though). The new Voodoo kernel (version 1.0 rev A) has a built-in auto-disabler for this kext so if you simply use this kernel you don't need to install the either disabler file.

I have voodoo already installed:

dannys-system-product-name:~ Danny$ uname -v
Darwin Kernel Version 9.5.0: Sat Dec 6 19:39:54 IST 2008; Voodoo; Release 1.0 :xnu-1228.7.58/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386
dannys-system-product-name:~ Danny$

and when I try to do software update on Apple Update (10.5.5) I get a kernel panic and f**'s up my machine

CPU: Phenom x3 8650 @2.54 ghz
Mobo: ASUS M3N HT-Deluxe 780i SLI
3 GB 800 OCZ RAM
Lawless 10.5.4 w/ Voodoo Kernel

how did you install the kernel? via the installer or manually?

either way, make sure you are using the mach_kernel.voodoo kernel when updating because most Apple updates also update the kernel to a vanilla mach_kernel so your crashes might be attributed to this.

as a boot flag simply type
Code:
-v mach_kernel.voodoo
and when you reboot after updating make sure you do the same until you have replaced the kernel again.
