I agree. We really don't need to have a whole bunch of separate distros floating around but I like you're spirit. The need for these new distros will disappear (except for those people still not willing to dish out some dough to buy retail) when this new kernel comes out.

I purchased Leopard when it first came out for my Macbook and I'll be buying a new one soon to incorporate the new nVidia chipset to be used in the new systems... hopefully it will also spill some light on getting the nForce boards working with writable SATA support.

Another approach you can try is an "AMD Live" DVD. I've been working on making mine better to be used as a recovery disk so people can use the Finder, etc. I've got only the basics supported right now on the DVD with much the same thought you put in your idea for a new distro. The problem is that I need to cut so much out to make it all fit that I would have to make separate versions for different Language support. I'm hoping to get it working with the new voodoo kernel soon too so it can all be right from a native (slimmed-down) install and thus will be able to run on both AMD and Intel.

But thats just my two cents on the topic. Good luck with whatever you decide.
