Okay, now that I have acquired the Stage kernel I am going to replace the 9.2 kernel on my cloned installation. Now do I just use the installer you created or do I have to use any special tools, like OSX Tools or something similar? I use Kext helper allot, but I do not think is was intended to be used to replace the Mach Kernel...correct?

Anywho I am going to use the installer package on my main installation partition, back it up with carbon copy to a new drive and see if it will update using the instructions you provided me in your earlier response. Wish me luck...now if I can just figure out how to enable quartz on this damn X1650 I would be on easy street!

Thanks again for your help and patients!

***UPDATE***

Installed the Stage 9.4 Kernel without a hitch..now on to trying to upgrade this baby to 10.5.6...crossing fingers!

***UPDATE***

Install of 10.5.6 Update was successful without having to edit the startup script. I am currently downloading 10.5.7 update and will try to install that using the same instructions you provided...so far so good!

***UPDATE***

Downloaded 10.5.7 Update and the image verifies, but when I go to mount the .dmg file the system locks up? Odd, not sure why but I did try to install it several times and with the same result. Quite puzzled I am, but I did some research this morning and found out that this kernel panic is caused by my seatbelt kext that you mentioned in your tutorial. I need to do some more reading on how to reinstate the one I had before I updated to 10.5.6 and on how to restore my backed up extensions in safe mode. There is no real easy way to upgrade, but since I can not run this system with the vanilla kernel I am stuck doing it the hard way

Thanks again!
