iDeneb 10.5.5 on Asus M3A78-EM
Hardware Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom 8450 Triple-Core Processor 2.10 GHz Motherboard: Asus M3A78-EM HardDrive: 1TB WD SATA HDD Chipset: AMD 780G / SB700 Memory: 2 x 2GB 800MHz RAM Expansion Slots: 1 x PCI Express x16 Slot 1 x PCI Express x1 Slot 2 x PCI 2.2 Slots Graphics/Video: Integrated ATI Raedon HD 3200 GPU USB: 8 USB Ports Storage Ports: 5 x SATA 3Gb/s Ports 1 x 1394 Port Audio: Realtek ALC1200 High Definition Audio 8-Channel LAN: Gigabit LAN Bios: AMI BIOS I managed to install Leopard with iDeneb 10.5.5. But after installation, Leopard wont boot up. Everything is fine untill the bootloader loads and asks to select the partition. When Leopard's partition is selected, it simply restarts. Note: 1. I am dual booting it with Microsoft Windows Vista x64. 2. The hard drive was not getting detected in the installation. Then I changed the SATA to AHCI Mode and then it worked fine and I could proceed with the installation. 3. I went with the installation without installing a single kext provided in the installation as I couldn't find any for my hardware specs in the list provided. PLEASE HELP! |

Make sure that you chose the AMD patch and a kernel when you install. I would recommend the XNU 9.4 kernel that is on the install dvd. Once you get that installed and working, then you can trouble shoot your LAN and audio. do you know what your lan and audio chips are, i.e. Marvel, ADI, ALC, etc? Also, don't forget to select a graphics kext during the install too.
One little side note. If you installed vista x64 in IDE mode on your sata drive then switched it in your bios to AHCI to install leo, you won't be able to boot into vista x64 unless you go back and change the bios back to IDE or......change your vista registry to use the vista x64 AHCI driver that you can get from your mobo website or....... re-install vista x64. I learned this one the hard way. Hope that helps. Thanks, I will go for it....
1. I have ALC1200 Audio chip and integrated ATI Raedon HD 3200 GPU. There were no kexts for these in the DVD, so I simply skipped everything and went with the installation. 2. I had changed my registry to use the vista x64 AHCI driver and then went with the iDeneb installation. |

GREAT!!! I am glad to hear that!!! It is very satisfying once everything just works. Have you found any kexts for your audio and gpu? Now that you have everything installed. I would recommend updating to the voodoo 9.5 kernel. You should be able to get it from the voodoo developer's website here. Burn it to a disk as an .iso or .dmg and then install it from within you booted up leo desktop. also, make a backup of your at least your lan kext. I say this because when I install from iDeneb using xnu voodoo 9.4, everything works pretty well. But then when I upgrade to voodoo 9.5, my lan acts wierd, still haven't figured it out yet. So, just back it up, just in case.
The Voodoo 9.5 kernel will allow you to update using the apple update program in os x. I used it and am currently running os x ver. 10.5.6 .Let me know how it goes. I have iDeneb 10.5.5 on disc, I just want to know what to select ahead of time. I have installed JaS 10.4.6 on my spare pc, but couldn't get any distro of Leopard to succeed at booting. Tiger works fine on that computer though, just won't take Leopard. Anyways, thanks in advance, hope to hear from you as I would really love my new system to multi-boot with Leopard, Vista, and XP. Slight video

I've had limited luck with choosing the HD 3600PCIE (my HD 3200 is pcie) from iDeneb 10.5.6. You'll get a 1024x768 desktop by default but no video overlay (*sad*) or accel, also the mouse can get a bit laggy every few mins... You can up the res to max 1440x1024 (or so) by choosing a different res at boot or by editing the boot.plist however it seems to be limited to 4:3 for now. (*also sad*). Hopefully a driver will come out soon. 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean. Free credits ($100) for InfMac readers. |
