Installation after Boot
Hey all...
I have used a few of the OS X 86 dvd's, Leopard 10.5.1 - 10.5.5, currently using the iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 w/ PPF applied. The problem im having is the same with previous seeds as well. Firstly, I will be able to boot and get to the install logo and everything is fine *sometimes its less than 5mins.. Once I get to "Select a Language..." it completely freezes up. Theres no mouse pointer (not that I see one throughout the whole process until this point anyway), the keyboard is not responding - only the F Lock key works. I have never been able to get past the Language selection and am up for any ideas that someone has... Also, im using a microsoft key/b and mouse on ps/2 - is there anything that should be done is BIOS??? Specs: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.61GHz - NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI rev. when you boot up, enter the boot flag: "-f -x -v"
forced load, safe mode, verbose mode... forced loading will cause the DVD to reload all the Extensions placed on the DVD to better find the right ones for you. safe mode because you really don't need to have everything in your hardware supported to install (it will be supported if you customize it correctly during the install, or shortly afterward when we talk you through it). verbose mode so you can tell us exactly what the errors are or what it hangs at in the future. EDIT: also, thanks for such a good system spec layout. it helps. you could, however, put things in a better order... (i.e. your iPhone specs in the middle of your system ones??) My specs
You asked about my setup over on mudemi's post.
Well looks almost the same with the exception of your video card. Actually its funny you list the creative sound card. I have the exact same card & was using it when I ran XP. You might as well pull the card out and use on-board sound for now as I was never able to get it up and running. Thats actually next on my list of things to figure out. I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 & updated using Zephyroth's Software Update to get & patch the 10.5.5 combo update. I was about to give up and then found this forum and all the helpful people on it. I give a great deal of thanks to Dies as he helped me tremendously. As for which drivers to use for ATI boards i am not too sure. The one thing that I can help you with is your onboard lan. If your install disk does not contain the appropriate driver then you can download the one in my signature. Thankyou both for such quick responses... I will test it out this afternoon and hopefully get back to you asap.
Semi. EDIT: I will arrange things in a better order, as per yours, only had time to just get the right information down and now i can arrange it more suitable. lol i had that in the back of my mind to do. EDIT: No good, on the -x-f-v. I thought it would really work with the safemode going but it still hung at the language selection after trying twice. I seen the instructions that it goes through and there were so many errors, fails, booboos its not funny. I guess thats what comes with the osx86 setup. I can give you the details of what it says when its going through boot stages, thats no problem, hopefully we can get to the bottom of it soon. I will go with Kalyway a chance if all fails. Thx Semi. There are a lot of posts out there that mention it being due to IDE dvd drives. Are you using the IDE hard drive at all? if not try disconnecting it and/or setting the dvd drive to master using the jumpers on the drive.

I've got the HD as the Slave and DVD drive going as the master on IDE.
EDIT: I've got a spare SATA Drive that I will try to install on and disconnect the IDE slave HD (therefore, leaving the IDE DVD connected). apart from changing over to a complete SATA install (both SATA HD and DVD), you could try manipulating some of the other boot flags out there. Here is a list of them: http://forum.insanelymac.com/lofiver...hp/t99891.html however, not all of these are correct or complete. Please use with care as misusing some of these can overheat your CPU to the point of burn-through.
