Installation problems: Mouse does not work during install!

Hey there,

This is my first post on this forum. I decided to take a look here because my threads at InsanelyMac
got ignored for 2 times already. I thought maybe there were more persons at InfiniteMac that are
willing to help

Specs:
CPU - Intel 2 Quad Q8200
Motherboard - Biostar GF7100P-M7S
Chipset - nVidia 7100 (northbridge) / nForce 630i (southbridge)
Audio (onboard) - Realtek ALC662
Video - nVidia GeForce 9500 GS 512mb
Ethernet (onboard) - Realtek RTL8111B
HD - Samsung HD642JJ 600gb (SATA connected)
Memory - 3gb DDR2 Ram Qimonda
DVD - LGŪ GH22LS30 (SATA connected)

The problem was "still waiting for root device". I got passed this by switching the bios setting from
IDE to AHCI. But then I stumbeld upon another problem: the mouse does not work during installation.
I tried toggling the USB Legacy option in bios, but without any succes.

I've got windows vista on the 1st partition, and have made a 50gb (2nd) partition for OSx.

Does anyone knows how to point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance for your help

Talking USB Keyboard and mouse only

Was the only way it worked for me under iDeneb 10.5.6. I am still in the process of installing so I will let you know. Only difference is I am using the on board graphics.

Back up your stuff from your vista installation and make a primary partition for OS X where vista was. It prefers to be in a primary partition. You can still install vista and dualboot it w/ vista by using chain0 (google "chain0 vista OS X dual boot" for instructions).

Thumbs up Status

I have successfully installed but hang on reboot after an error related to Front Row. I will post what I get here after my reinstall attempt without the network drivers. Seems the drivers for the wired Eth are available directly from the Realtek Site. crverik you most definitely need to use a USB keyboard and mouse. Thanks for the explanation Topsy regarding Windows partitions. I would just recommend using parallels or Virtual Box inside of Leopard anyhow. Good luck!

Was able to get it to boot in Safe Mode by using the -x option at boot
