As I understand it, Marvin's Utility looks for INTEL CPU_ID's in software files and replaces the ID's with AMD CPU_ID's. I would suppose it's so a program doesn't balk if it's expecting an Intel processor and yours happens to be an AMD...
I just know that certain programs have quit unexpectedly with an error message - I run Marvin's and they don't do that anymore.
Running both 10.5.8 and 10.6.4 on my stinking AMD/ATi machine...
