Welcome to Infinitemac

It is always a good idea to install with only the bare minimum of options selected. The goal should be to get into the OSX Gui as it is much easier to tackle each problem from a working gui.

You mentioned that you 10.5.5. iatkos distro worked out the best as in you booted into OSX just could not get networking or sound working. I would use this as a starting point and than address each issue one at a time.

Get a piece of paper handle and write down notes on each of your attempts and the issues you had. Always boot using the flag -v as this gives you Verbose Mode and useful information.

Install options - If you are not 100% sure you know which chipset to select you can choose all of them except those which are similar. So only select one nForce option and one Via option and you should be safe.
Likewise I would leave graphics alone until. Not selecting anything will still give you VESA graphics however selecting multiple or incorrect options may lead to the machine hanging on boot.

If your system hangs on boot give it a few more minutes. If nothing happens take notice to the line it hangs on.

Im not familiar with your chipset but Ill look around and see if I can find out which one your machine requires. For now if you can get your 10.5.5 iatkos up and running as you mentioned it will be a great deal easier to fix your sound/net problems.
