The server updates actually contain two pkgs - one for the underlying client system and another for the server layer. This could be the reason why ASU fails.

If you extract each pkg with pacifist and then use the ASU 'bug' to patch them, it should work in theory. After patching just make sure you install both of them without restarting in the order Client > Server.
