I also have ASUS M2N-E and sound is working. Try adding Azalia 8-port digital during installation.
You won't see the Audio details in the About my mac page, but there is audio. You'll be able to play mp3, etc.

I added Azalia Audio during the installation but still no luck. Then I start Leopard I see this error:
System extension cannot be used

I don't see "Azalia 8-port digital" in kexts included in 10.5.2 installation dvd only Azalia.
Can you or anyone help me ?
