OSX Freeze After iDENEB install, Dimension 4550.

System Specs:

CPU: Intel P4 2.6GHz
FSB 533Mhz
Dell Dimension 4550
Chipset: i845PE
RAM: 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM
Ethernet: Intel 100/10 (integrated)
VIDEO:Nvidia 4 MX420 (64MB)

Configuration Options: (Used from the wiki on it HERE)

Dell Dimension 4550

Method:

* iDeneb 1.4 10.5.6 on stock system w/ P4 2.0 GHz, 400MHz FSB, 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM, ADI 198x Integrated Audio, Intel 10/100 LOM integrated ethernet
* Kernel: 9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel
* Chipset ICHxFixed
* Audio AppleAC97Audio.kext[1] worked for onboard audio. Others might work, but I chose nothing initially and had to download and install this using OSx86Tools[2] after initial install.
* Video NvKush
* Fixes and Patches Seatbelt Fix; 1-CPUs Fix
* Network Intel 10/100 PE (tested, works)

I have a successful install [like 50 times so far....], however, when I go to load OSX, I end up getting a screen with the apple logo. It loads, then abruptly stops and the computer just freezes like that. I've been at this for DAYS and I've been all over google, forums, read me's, tut's etc. I've seen a few people successfully install on this specific machine. Mine is a bit different but only in processor speed.

Here is a pic of the error I get when it hangs: (Tried booting with rd=disk0s2 -v)

I've been at this for days so any help is greatly appreciated. I'll def be donating if I can get this up and running.

If anyone needs any more information please let me know, I'd be more than happy to provide it.

Warmest Regards,

- T

When I loaded with iDENEB V1.3 and use this wiki HERE

[Details of the wiki I followed::]
  • Install method: iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5
  • Processor: Pentium 4 1.8Ghz
  • Intel integrated LAN works (select intel pro ve 10/100)
  • Audio - 4550s apparently come with onboard worked out of box*
  • Mouse was invisible on my HD tv so I installed Mouse locator
  • Note: during install installed these kernels, drivers, apps etc:
Chipset - ICHXFixed
Kernel - Sleep
Network - Ethernet - Intel100ProVE
Fix - install all but one, didn't install the Power management
Video - Nvidia - NVKush
APPS - installed all included apps . . . . . . .

I get this error messaging when booting with rd=disk0s2 -v -f ::

the ocspd[#] errors are "graphics card" related.

I installed a compatible graphics card and successfully installed 10.5.5 with iDENEB v_1.3

Solved on my own.
