I have searched for this "SB600". As I understand it is a chipset?
As usual the information is spread on like 1 million threads and it is really hard to
find out which facts I should use.

I am trying to install OSX on a IDE HDD. So I have tried to make the IDE HDD master.
I have it now running master and the Dvd is running slave.

I still can't get past the still waiting for root.

I tried to find anything about AHCI in my bios but I found nothing.

The still waiting for root message comes up after the ERROR firewire... message, if that is to any help.

Regarding to the SB600 some people talks about injecting kext into the boot dvd, some talk about
removing kext from the boot dvd, some talk about editing some kext files and some
talk about adding some ID's into the kext?

It is really not easy to sort out all the information here. I can't say that I am bad on computers,
actually I am pretty good, but I can't seem to fully understand this.

I think that the main reason is that there are no good manuals and all people say "this is the way to go".
But the problem is that everybody seems to have their own way of doing it.

So could someone please tell me how to solve this problem? *confused*

Thanks cgsheen for your answer.
Btw, If the motherboard chipset is not properly supported what do I do to solve the problem?

/ Duane
