Unhappy Problems installing iAtkos (please help)

I installed iAtkos v5i with every settings combination I could think of (it must have taken at least 10 installs) but each time i get the still waiting for root device error when booting (or in normal boot, a crossed circle)

Should I be running a different build/distribution like kalyway or something? take a look at my specs and tell me what you think would be easiest, or at least possible...

I'm really new at this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

SPECS:
HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop
intel core 2 duo cpu t5550 @ 1.83ghz
987 mhz, 3.00 gb of RAM
wdc WD3200BECT-60ZCT0 disk drive (no idea what that means)
intel sata hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
realtek high def audio
(also, i think intel ich8 family pci express root was listed, don't know what this is either)

p.s. i'm trying to dual boot xp and osx on one hard drive/2 partitions with xp on the first one. i'm using the chain0 method, and it seems to be in working order. it's just the osx booting sequence that hangs.
