Geez, do I keep getting off lucky or what? The past two OS updates have reportedly caused ALC889a issues, yet all I do is reinstall the Taruga patch and it comes back just fine for me.
So if the solution nexusmac posted doesn't fix the problem, try the Taruga patcher with an ALC889a dump log. You can PM me if you can't find it.
