Strange issue with installing osx

Hey all,

Ive been searching the internet for hours yesterday and this morning, and i cannot find a cure for my problem.

I am running an Advent 6555 laptop pre-installed with Vista.

I have partitioned a 40gb space that is unformatted, ready to accept apples file system,
I have created an entry in the vista mbr using freebsd for the mac osx for when its installed.
I have burnt my iso of iATKOS 4i.

When i boot off the cd, it comes up with the apple logo and the spinning wheel at the bottom. This then stays on this screen for over 40 minutes, and the cd drive stops spinning after roughly 30 seconds. There is no circle with a line through it or anything like i have previously read, it just hangs.

Is it worth getting my hands on iPC version? or shall i stick with iATKOS 4i?

Cheers!

This issue really isn't strange at all since it's probably a 'still waiting for root device' error (boot with the -v flag to see what it really is). I would definitely try iPC though -- I just installed it on an AMD and it's pretty much the most up-to-date and complete release you can get right now. Although coming from AMD I can't say much about iATKOS but I would at least give another release a try.

iPC 10.5.6 w/ Voodoo Kernel | AMD Athlon X2 5000+ BE @ 3.01 GHz | Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H | 780G North & SB700 South | ATI Radeon HD 3850 | 2GB DDR2 800 | 2 x 500GB SATA HDD | 1 x DVD-R DL SATA
