Temperature monitoring

Hi all,

Does anyone have any working temperature monitors for OSx86? I've tried iStat menus, Temperature Monitor, and one other (forgot the name), and none of them detect CPU temps, only SMART hard drive temps.

I've been running VoodooPower (which I like) but after a couple of days of running, when load is high and/or graphics used intensively it KPs with a zalloc did gc, followed by an npvhash=4095. I've tried various workarounds (TState Control = false) to no avail.

Right now, I can't afford crashes (and lost work), so I've disabled VP, but of course the machine runs hot. I'd like to keep an eye on the temps, and don't feel like writing a temp sensor monitor right now.

I'd also prefer something with source, and/or free

Thanks!

MacBook Pro - have allergy to nickel in the aluminum casing. So my kid gets an expensive toy!

Gateway MX 8738 - Retail, vanilla Snow Leopard 10.6.2 (thanks kizwan!) with Chameleon RC4, modified DSDT. Upgraded to Core 2 CPU (easy to do). Upgraded to 640GB drive. Everything but SD card working. Minor niggles. GMA950 with QE/CI and *no* artifacts.

iMac (luxo/lamp) G4 with Tiger.

I'm using voodoopower kext with my quad and Temp Monitor detects all 4 cores pretty well, it just has to install an intel temp driver first.

~ Snow Leopard Retail w/Empire EFI ~ MSI X58 Platinum SLI ~ Intel Core i7 920 3.2GHz ~
~ Galaxy GTX 260 896mb ~ OCZ 6GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM ~ 500GB Hitachi SATA ~ Sony Optiarc DVD-RW ~

As am I, but VoodooPower KPs on me one every 1-2 days.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the intel temp driver. I'll go digging into the source. Maybe I can run it by its lonesome to get temp readings without voodoo power loaded.

Thanks!

I'm actually referring to a driver that Temperature Monitor prompts you to install the first time you run it. Is that what you mean?

I get those KP's on occasion too

I spazzed. Thought you were referring to something Voodoopower loaded. I tried Temperature Monitor. The 4.0 version (before the speech voices check) crashes, and the latest version crashes too. I guess I'll install the voices and try again.

v.4.7. Regular or lite version. Both work for me.
