is there a workaround to change the machine name e.g. "to be filled by O.E.M." to a name i like!?

Not sure what you mean, are you talking about the machine network name or the user account?

As Superhai said, "It is the DMI data in your SMBIOS. You need an app to edit that." Found DMIScope, tried it, need a registered version, plus it could be dangerous...

that is not what i want to change

I'm betting you bypassed the initial setup after installing. This is the only reason I can think of that would cause 'to be filled by oem' to be put there.
