USB problem
Hi,
I'm using the latest iDeneb on my machine, all is working fine since 2 weeks now but the USB. If I boot and plug a USB stick, it is mounted on my desktop; but if I try to plug it once the system has already started, it is not mounted. So I've made a search and saw that my kernel version is 9.2.0 and my system.kext version is 9.4.0, so they didn't match : maybe that's the problem. But how can I solve it ? Thanks in advance for any hint. |

You are on GUID partition, right?
Why not upgrade to voodoo kernel? Try this, this installer: http://code.google.com/p/xnu-dev/ Which bootloader do you use? Yes, I'm using a GUID partition.
Why should I have to upgrade to a voodoo kernel ? I'm afraid to break all the stuff I have inside, is there any risk to install it ? My current bootloader is Chameleon 1.0.11. |

The versions do need to match. I highly recommend the Voodoo Kernel but I understand the hesitation as you seem to have your system close to 100%.
You can read the following post by lioNEXT and his fix, both links available at the bottom of the post. Remember to read the post thoroughly and when you run the installer you want to make sure you hit "Customize" and are only installing 9.2.0 System.kext. If I were you I would backup your existing system.kext to your desktop or somewhere safe so that If you have any issues you can boot in Single User Mode using -s and replace it with the old one. Also let us know what hardware you are using and place it in your signature. Once you get this problem fixed I would create a backup of your install so that you can restore it if you have any future problems. Once you do this Id really look into the Voodoo Kernel. lioNEXT's Post: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=95789 lioNEXT's Fix: http://rapidshare.com/files/11561713...x_1.3.mpkg.zip MOBO: Z77MX-QUO-AOS CPU: Core i7 3770K GPU: MSI N760 TF 2GD5/OC Case: Modded MacPro2,1 Memory: 32GB Corsair Vengeance (CMY32GX3M4A1600C9) Wifi: Airport Extreme bcm94321MCA BIOS: HermitCrab Labs H3A.816M Monitor: AOC Q2963Pm 29" WFHD 2560x1080 21:9 Interests: KDE on Apple Darwin, Keeping it real with the command line, Helping those that help themselves |

lanceomni :
I've read lioNEXT's post and tried his patch. I've installed only 9.2.0 System.kext and now I'm surprisingly with system.kext 9.2.0 and kernel 9.2.2 so they still don't match ! What can I do ? I also got another problem : the screensavers don't work (whatever the one I choose): my monitor is shuting down, and I've got a black screen. Moving the mouse or hiting the keyboard restores my configuration, but it's sometimes rather annoying. Code:
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo Motherboard : MSI P965 Neo Memory : 3GB DDR2 Video : Integrated ATiŽ Radeon HD3200 Harddisk : 250GB, SATA DVD : LG Electronics GH22LS30, SATA OS : MacOS X v10.5.5 Bootloader : Chameleon 1.0.11 Kernel : 9.2.2 |

Someone isn't right if you had 9.2.0 before you installed the patch and now you have 9.2.2 you must have inadvertently installed the 9.2.2 kernel.
Use the same installer and just select 9.2.2 System Kext. None of the "USB fixes" does help me out. It's annoying ...

@FirstHackTosh
Sorry If I have already asked this but you have Voodoo 9.5.0 and System.kext 9.5.0? system.kext System/Library/Extensions/System.kext Right click on it and select get info. kernel Open terminal and type Code:
uname -a Great... Now backup 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean. Free credits ($100) for InfMac readers.
