the other distros might not have your correct kexts. you'll need to find out EVERYTHING about your computer and then find out what distros have your kexts... or you could do the easy thing. Go to Apple's site and download the 10.5.8 updater pack thing(sorry its been awhile) and make SURE that the thing in ur extra folder has ur kernel as the default on boot. make sure you back up your kexts before the update.
