Hello everyone,

Im having a really hard time installing Kalyway (10.5.2) or Zephyroth (10.5.2 Rev 2) on my AMD based pc.
Zephyroth is working, installing..but after reboot, when it should boot up, nothing happens. Not even a 'Disk boot failure' message.
Kalyway on the other hand, i succesfully intsalled it on another pc, Core2Duo based..and it worked as a charm..no problems no nothing. But on my AMD , i get the 'STill waiting for root device' message...i tried the solutions found on google and on forums, doesnt work...maybe im not doing the right things who knows.

I would REALLY appreciate some help please with being able to intsall Kalyway or at least to make Zephyroth BOOT AFTER RESTART.

Specs:
amd x2 3800+
2 G Ram
4 hdds (3 sata+1 ide) - Note: when installing, i only used 1 hdd..fully dedicated to mac ( WD 250 SATA)
1 DVDRW - SATA
8800 GTS 320 MB

Thanks and hope somebody will help me get this done as im getting nuts from trying and trying

"Still waiting for root device ..." error is related to the chipset of your motherboard.
What's your mb ?

Mac OS X 10.6.3 • 2.8 GHz Intel Core I7 860 • ASUS P7P55D • 2 GB 2 Ghz DDR3 • ATI RADEON XFX 4890 1GB • 2 x Hitachi 160 GB Serial-ATA • PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112 • LaCie Desktop Harddrive 750 GB USB

Another thing, zephyroth since (i guess) its your version the Zephyroth release , i found a post somewhere on how to make Zephyroth boot after restart, but it requires me to enter -s mode when booting from DVD...the problem is i have a ps2 keyboard, which wont work in -s mode (didnt work in the install either, luckily i didnt really need it)...any help with this?

i dont know for sure, but installation on sata could be problematic
any chance for u to install on an external disk as a test?

did you check the (two) wiki? it got good info on installation issues.

well i installed again Zephyroth 10.5.2 rev 2, because i did miss something yesterday...i didnt choose MBR within DiskUtility when installing Leopard. Today i chose it, i isntalled the MBR Boot Loader , but still my Leopard wont boot.

Can anyone at least give me a hint what to do to boot leopard from hdd? I tried adding it to my Vista Boot loader but actually my hdd is not seen by vista for some strange reason... --- actually it is only seen in Vista`s Disk management, not as a drive (d,e,f etc) in windows explorer , so i cannot choose to boot from it from within the vista boot loader

the easiest way to boot from a specific hdd is using the bios bootloader
(depending in mobo, but most got this option, at f8 in my case)

on "dualbooting", read the wiki´s and search for easybcd for adding to vistas bootloader.

i case you already got your hdd choosen at bootup and osx /darwin bootloader
wont show, read the wiki about "making partition active" "blinking coursor"
and "installing efi-bootloader"

good luck

thanks a bunch zuz242, i will look into all of the things you said...

for a specific hdd boot, i dont think it was the case because i only had my Leopard hdd and my dvdrw active when i installed and when i restarted, so only 1 hdd and still didnt work. if i make it 'active' the partition (actually the whole hdd since there is only 1 partition on it), wont it screw with my vista/xp installations? right now the partition with Vista is marked as ACTIVE

try booting with "-v", it toogles verbose mode, showing log/terminal output while stystem start.
this should give you a clue where the problem is
