Hi there,

I wanna share my installation experiences with revision 1 and help the staff to make a perfect revision 2 ;-)

My hardware specifications:
Laptop ID: Medion 97900
CPU: AMD Turion 64 Mobile MK-36 2.0Ghz. SSE, SSE2, SSE3
Chipset (Southbridge): nVidia nForce 410/430 MCP rev. A3.
Videocard: NVIDIA Geforce Go 6150.
HDD: Samsung HM080JI S-ATA, 80 GB.
Audio: Realtek ACL883.
WiFi: Zydas Z1211B.

1) My first installation attempt stopped after installation screen appeared. The installation froze and after a lot of internet research I figured out that the first revision didn't support S-ATA drives on NForce chipsets. I injected the the iso with the new ATA kext and from there the installation went smooth. I already read that this is fixed in R2 so this shouldn't be happen anymore.

2) After installation, it came to my first try to boot which ended up abruptly with a kernel panic. It worked out that the problem was a non support NVidia graphic card. I had to delete some of the NV* and Ge* kext and after this the configuration wizard appears.

3) After installation and configuration the system worked, partially. I had to install some drivers for my Zydas Z1211B. Actually this a common used chipset for WLan adapters. Maybe it is a good idea to included it in the iso. The driver can be found here: ftp://ftp.zyxeltech.de/ZyDAS/ZD1211_USB/Macintosh/ZDA211MacUSB_install_4_5_7_0.dmg

4) After a while I noticed that my touchpad wasn't working properly. The tap wasn't working. So I had to replace the one from the DVD with this one: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=21952&st=20&p=160695&#entry160 695

5) There were some problems with my graphic card. To get it work I had to install the the MacVidia driver 1.0.81 AND NVInjectGo (just NVInjectGo didn't work) and the LaptopDisplay.kext from here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=37630

6) My sound card wasn't working and I had to install the kext from here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36520

My wish list for revision 2:
1) Full support for my graphic card, because I don't have QE / CI support right now. Zeph, I know this is not exactly your business ;-)

2) A kernel which supports SpeedStep or PowerNow. My CPU consumes the maximum power all the time. That means the fan is running all the time and the battery time is very short. So maybe it would be a good idea to provide the second revision with CPU throttle kext and/or kernel to reduce the power consumption (and the fan noise of course ;-)

3) Support for my X10 WTI remote controller

And at last I noticed two odd things and I don't know how I can fix this.

1) The system start takes very long if an usb drive is plugged in. Sometimes it doesn't start at all.
2) The MAC OS clock interferes with the XP clock. If I set the correct time in MAC OS the Windows XP clock is 1 hour behind the actual time. If I correct the time and next time I boot into MAC OS the time is 1 hour ahead so I have to correct this clock as well which means means the XP clock is wrong again and so on... Does anybody know what's wrong here?

cheers,
komeet
