Good to hear how far you've gotten. You say that resolution works, but does that mean that you can change it in display preferences, or do you have to manually enter it in Boot.plist? Also, since nobody has any hd 2000/3000 cards working with QE/CI, I wouldn't expect it to work for you. If you want to use it as a primary system, I recommend getting a 4000 series card and sell the 3850. If you plan on also using Leopard, I believe you will need a 4800 series card.
You might want to re-run marvin's utility once you've migrated your files as the kernel you used in 10.5.5 probably included the on-the-fly patcher.
