Yes, I have tried that and still haven't been able to get it to work. Although, in the 10.6.2 update didn't they add support for >4gb ram? I really have no idea, but I heard it somewhere
Oh, by the way, if you have access to a mac (you can do a clears install) restore the iboot cd to a flash drive and create an smbios.plist for your macbook and put it in the Extras folder, it will think your computer is a MacBook pro.
