GA-EP45T-USB3P: everything but sound
I installed with a retail DVD following some instructions on LifeHacker with relative ease. Everything works except sound. Has anyone gotten sound to work? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate any help. Thank you!

VoodooHDA finally resolved the issue after some work. I had to remove all HDA "enablers" from the Extensions/Extra folder and instead install VoodooHDA into /S/L/E... Not sure why it doesn't work with the DSDT patch and relevant kexts but it doesn't seem to with this board.

Ga-ep45t-usb3p
I have this board as well, and I would like to know specifically how to get the sound working, preferably when booting from an EFI partition. I cannot boot with the VoodooHDA. I just get a kernel panic.

How do you install Snow leopard on GA-EP45T-USB3P board? Nothing I do works!!!
I usually am not too bad at doing these sort of things fairly quick. I had Snow Leopard installed on ep45-ud3p board, but it was dying and there were no replacements with as good of specs, that I "thought" would be similar or the same, and run OSX. I bought the GA EP45T-USB3P and DDR3 RAM, 4GB 12800. Windows 7 works fine of course. I've gone through using kakewalk and trying to install the closest thing to the board there ep45t on my thumb drive. Everything is done correctly, formatted to GUID, cased, journaled and restored and boot loader installed.
I changed the bios settings (a few are different from the guides and the old ud3p and maybe there is something there that needs to be different, I don't know) according to instructions; I don't see anything I'm missing. The Installer for OSX quits during installation. The system just shuts off like the plug was pulled, instantly, about half way through. It doesn't matter what I do. I've unplugged everything and have had everything in. I use a bluetooth mouse, and that is the only thing. Setup is GA-EP45T-USB3P Motherboard Q9550 Intel Core 2 Quad 2.83 GHz multiplier 8.5x 630 Watt psu. 4GB 12800 G.skill Ram DDR3 Gigabyte and LG DL drives. Nvidia 9800 GTX + 2 Western digital hard drives, 1TB and 500GB. - Windows 7 is still installed from the last install on UD3P board, and I'm trying to reinstall OSX on the other, already created, partition. So, I've heard that others have installed OSX Snow Leopard on this board with success minus sound (a work in progress). How did you do it? What did you use? Can you direct me to the correct files, settings, or anything else, information that may be useful. It's 7AM here and I haven't been to sleep. I'm the type that will stay up for 2 days straight trying to make something working, cuz I can't sleep unless I do. LOL! It's not good for my health or the computer's if you know what I mean... cuz my slow dying patience will turn into gut wrenching hatred for the machine sooner or later and I might turn it a Rat hotel after I kick it to the moon. Joking! It cost too much for that. Anyway someone please post me some help! ![]() |

And version three of the installer: http://www.google.com/search?&q=ep45...now+leopard+v3 The old version is hosted here: http://cache.gawker.com/assets/image...ow_Leopard.zip I highly recommend using the updated version. Install the image to a USB drive, install OS X, reboot and install Chameleon. Then for sound I suggest VoodooHDA, I couldn't get anything else to work. You must install it directly to /s/l/e, do not use Chameleon's patched dir to install or you'll get a kp. Good luck! How I got sound working on EP45T-USB3P (889)
I finally got sound working on my GA-EP45T-USB3P!
Verified working on 10.6.5! Be sure to use KextUtility or something similar to install the kexts with. Note: I'm using Cartri's MacBIOS firmware, but this should work for all EP45T-USB3P boards. 1. Download Gigabyte_ALC889_P55.zip: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?z01fznwnumn 2. Download ALC-UniFix for 10.6.4+: http://cartri.net/downloads/ALC-UniFix.pkg 3. Unzip Gigabyte_ALC889_P55.zip 4. Install "HDAEnabler_for_Snow/HDAEnabler.kext" to /System/Library/Extensions/ and Install "ALC889_LayoutID_12/4outs2ins HDA headphone/LegacyHDA.kext" to /Extra/Extensions/ Note: Pick the 4outs layout in "ALC889_LayoutID_12" that matches your front panel (HDA or AC'97/regular). 5. Install ALC-UniFix 6. Repair permissions with Disk Utility 7. Reboot! You can then make an aggregate sound device in Audio/MIDI Setup if you want 5.1. Play your DVDs in VLC and enjoy the surround sound. ![]() skinlayers Last edited by skinlayers; 11-23-2010 at 12:56 AM. |
