you cannot use the onboard nic if your board is ver 2.*. only version 1.* had the onboard network card that worked out of the box. you will have to go out and by a PCI network card, look around on ebay i bought one for like 5$ and i installed it and it worked. PLEASE LOOK UP TO FIND OUT A PCI NETWORK THE WORKS BEFORE HAND!
