I got no clue what version you downloaded, but I think there is only one custom version of SL and reports tell that it doesnt work so well so it would be better, though much harder, to install the original retail disc.
You cant straight install it though, by just putting the disc in the reader and rebooting, you need a bootloader like chameleon or netkas pcefi, a way to make a bootcd, some needed kexts or someone with a working os x to copy the disc to a disc partition.
