i found it easier to use 3 partitions, partition 1 with bootloader (I used boot 132), partition 2 with 10.5 installed and working, and partition 3 with the 10.6 dvd on.

I just boot into 10.5, then run the OSInstall file from the 10.6 dvd, works great
