Midiserver issues
Hey,
I have been using my hackintosh for music making for several years now, recently I have gotten a few issues with it: Just to give you my specs: Model: MacPro 3,1, BootROM MP31.00C1.B00, 4 processors, 3.01 GHz, 4 GB, SMC 1.13f3 (It's a amd phenom II x4) Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5750, ATI Radeon HD 5750, PCIe, 1024 MB Memory Module: global_name Network Service: Ethernet Adaptor (en0), Ethernet, en0 PCI Card: ATI Radeon HD 5750, sppci_displaycontroller, Slot-1 Serial ATA Device: WDC WD5000AADS-00S9B0, 465.76 GB Serial ATA Device: WDC WD5000AAVS-00G9B0, 465.76 GB Serial ATA Device: ST3500418AS, 465.76 GB Serial ATA Device: WDC WD5000AAKS-40TMA0, 465.76 GB Parallel ATA Device: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H42L USB Device: Cruzer, 0x0781 (SanDisk Corporation), 0x5530, 0x52500000 / 2 USB Device: Hub, 0x05ac (Apple Inc.), 0x9130, 0x52300000 / 4 USB Device: Apple Cinema Display, 0x05ac (Apple Inc.), 0x9222, 0x52320000 / 6 USB Device: Keyboard Hub, 0x05ac (Apple Inc.), 0x1006, 0x52400000 / 3 USB Device: Apple Keyboard, 0x05ac (Apple Inc.), 0x0221, 0x52420000 / 7 USB Device: USB Gaming Mouse, 0x046d (Logitech Inc.), 0xc049, 0x12200000 / 3 USB Device: Controller, 0x045e (Microsoft Corporation), 0x028e, 0x12100000 / 2 FireWire Device: ST3400632A, Initio, Up to 400 Mb/sec FireWire Device: unknown_device, Unknown FireWire Device: PreSonus FIREBOX, Presonus, Up to 400 Mb/sec Basically I get kernel panics, since the last update I have been having kernel panics when I even start Logic, GarageBand or even try to use the audio Midi manager. Before that i only got kernel panics if i started Logic Express after starting Garageband and closing it while having my midi keyboard connected. I have somehow managed to remedy the issue to the previous state, where it doesn't crash when I start Logic. I replaced the CoreAudio,CoreMidi and the CoreMidiServer framework with the ones on my slightly outdated Snow Leopard usbpen. (Still 10.6.8 still) However i think I have noticed the underlying problem that makes Midiserver hang and crash: These are the last mesages i see in my log before i get the panics: Quote:
After using the slightly older frameworks i still get this, it hangs a bit on launch, but it doesn't kernel panic and eventually goes on. So if anyone are good at dissecting the little information I provided, it would be great if you could point me in the right direction? Since this wasn't even a problem before 10.6.8, would it be an idea to roll back to a previous AppleUSDBEHCI.kext ? I have really enjoyed using this rig for years for music making, it would be a shame to update to Intel just for this. |

Turns out the culprit was a broken usb hub in my cinema display. SOLVED.
