Quartz Extreme and Core Image
Is the Quartz Extreme and Core Image technology still supported in snow leopard?
i mean is visible in system profiler , all my core animations (spaces/dashboard) working much slower then in 10.5.8 and I have nothing about support any of them in my system :/ - MacBook Pro (Santa Rosa) 2.4 Ghz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 1920x1200 TFT - C2Q9650 3Ghz with Noctua NH-U12P passive,GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P, (8GB) 4x2GB OCZ PC-8500 REAPER, EVGA Geforce 9800GTX+ SSC 512MB with HR-03 GT - Samsung NC10 Atom270, 2GB Ram, 160GB HDD with Mac OS X 10.5.6 |

It is supported, but for whatever reason the profiler app doesn't tell you if they're enabled or not.
What I found is that the quickest way to check if CI/QE is enabled is to start DVDPlayer.app. It will give an error about not finding a supported display device if CI/QE is disabled. As for the fix, I have found NVEnabler to be the most consistent way to get my nVidia card to work properly. EFI strings seem to be hit and miss in SL for some reason. |
