SL Installed and Booted, but Some Kexts Won't Load!
Hi, after weeks of trying, I finally got my Compaq Presario C762nr laptop to boot Snow Leopard. The problem now is that I can't get the kexts for my graphics card (GMAx3100) to load at all. I've used OSx86 Tools, and various other tools to try and reinstall the drivers, but under the "Graphics" tab I get "no kext loaded". Does anyone know how to fix this? I also don't have audio or WiFi, but I wanna fix the graphics first, since I've heard some people have trouble with this card.

you must boot in 32bit mode
-x32 or arch=i386
the reason 3100 kexts don't work in 64 bit kernel

I've tried in 32-bit mode, but I still can't get anything to load for the card. If it helps, here's what I get in verbose mode when I boot with -v -x32 -f:

You're not booting in 32 bits, see the kernel identification.
Try the other boot argument suggested arch=i386

Yes, you're both right, i wasn't in x32 mode. I must have typed it in wrong.

Anyway, thanks, the graphics now work in 32-bit mode.

So does this mean that even real macs with the x3100 cards can never run 64-bit graphics? Will I miss out on a lot of stuff by being stuck in 32-bit mode?

You won't miss a lot. You just can't use 32GB of ram efficiently. LOL
