Installing a retail is not the same as a distro, the method you follow is common for all machines, what is different is that you need to know the hardware of your machine very well, so you can find out and provide the kexts for it in case its needed because its not natively supported by Snow, specially the ones needed to boot (a custom kernel & DSDT if needed, SATA & IDE controllers, PS/2 support).
