snow won't shutdown

i'm wondering if anyone else encountered the same problem: i installed snow, everything was fine, restart and shutdown worked correctly.
then, i noticed then they don't. i searched a bit, and i used the suggestions i found. i deleted openhaltrestart, i tried qoops kernel (it says in the info there's no need for openhaltrestart), but still no joy.
then i found evorestart, now restart works ok, but shutdown does not. on verbose mode, it says cpu halted, it's now safe to turn off your computer, but it does not turn it off after, i have to do it manually.

any ideas? thanks.
