Unfortunately, MBR is the only way to go on my side.
@Zephyroth, I only installed the 9.2.0 kernal, do I have to install both kernals (9.2.0 and 9.1.0)? Also, why am I not able to see my complete CPU info as stated that it will in this release? Please help me if I am doing anything wrong. Thank you very much Zephyroth. Your noticeable hard efforts have made me happier than ever before. Keep up your endeavors. =) Quote:

Almost Successful............
I have installed on GUID with EFI but get a b0 error. I can use the DVD to boot. 7600GT wi QE/CI working ! Monitor at 1680 x 1050 Native resolution :) No Network - have Marvell88E116 chipset. Installed both options - SKG and whatever the other was.... No Sound - have ALC882 chipset. Installed Azalia and AC97 kexts....get errors when the desktop loads... Any ideas how to resolve these three issues???? Thanks |

Use MBR, less stressful in terms of configuring. LOL

I started over, re-partitioned MBR, used 9.2.0, EFI, nvidia, tried the audio .kexts, tried the ZyDas USB .kext, removed the languages... The install completed without a hitch! I even made it past "account creation" without a working LAN Adapter OR transfering an account from another install! My 8600GTS - FULLY working OOTB! No ALC880 audio. Loaded "beta4some861_880Installer" - sound WORKS! No USB Wireless (Airlink101 AWLL3026 - uses the ZyDas 1211). Used the AWLL3026 10.4.x Installer - Wireless LAN WORKS! ( OK, I admit it: I was a little bummed & frustrated while I was trying GUID... I even muttered... But now - with MBR EFI - I have to admit: THAT WAS THE EASIEST OSX INSTALL EVER! ) I still need to install Apps. I hope Toast will work again - like it did in 10.5.1 (and Time Machine too...) So, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed... Hey Zephy! DUDE! seriously... dude! |
@cgsheen, are you able to see an option for making the menu bar translucent or not? Last question: I was forced to name my volume with only one word. However, in the O/S environment, I changed the name and put it back to Macintosh HD. Was this a safe thing I did?
I'm seeding at 70kbps! Be glad I have another system right next to my "m"ac. :-) |

I am reinstalling with MBR now, and trying the RT73 driver for my USB adapter...searching for an ALC882 audio driver too.... The anticipation of getting this working is killing me .... |
Is it safe to rename my HD volume after I am done with the installation?
I heard that when installing Leopard, it is always safe to name it one word. I renamed my volume 2 words, "Macintosh HD" after the installation, or else if I did during the installation, my Hard Disk would not boot, and instead will stay at a blinking cursor before booting. Is it safe what I did even though I changed the info after the installation? Lets me know, thanks. =) |
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated, I was able to install it using 9.1 kernel and 9.2 kernel, on mdr partition and the install working perfect everything is good and it loads fine but then the screen goes blue for a secound then black and all i have is a black screen with a mouse cursor, which i can move but thats it, how do i fix this,
thanks for any and all help |
Do you have to install both 9.1 and 9.2 kernals? What happens if we only install the 9.2 kernal?
|
Ok,I got it working finally!!!!!! MBR EFI, 9.2.0 kernel, all drivers installed for my system except the new updated nvidia kext package (wouldn't let me boot with it) Now I need to get my video card working..... 6800GS
|
Congratulations thus far. Video card should work though. Did you have to install the 9.1 kernal as well? what happens if you don't install that in addition to the 9.2 kernal?

Up and running, even got to see the cool startup movie. My usb RT73 Lan works - I am posting from within Safari now. Got to reboot and see if the ALC883 kext I just installed will work.
Woo Hoo XBench of 106.51 Derwood |
Did you install both kernals. Is this required? Plz let me know, thank you.

I was using the 9.2.0 kernel with the MBR EFI BootLoader. My problem now is I installed the Gaphics update and applied the patcher but I still get that black reboot your computer screen when i try to boot into Leo....
|
Oh, so did you select the 9.1.0 kernal as well to install on your system. Or 9.2.0 kernal only?
Quote:
|
9.2.0 only.
|
Is it true that you are required to install both? If so, what are the advantages if there are any? =)

Whew...install went on without any problems. Thank you so much Zeph. I was partying too much until I nearly crashed my other system, Windows Vista. very happy for this release and I remain optimistic throughout its lifespan. Love everything! I read what other people commented about me, don't really mind, since I know, I was too anxious for this update. We all have our different moods. I was feeling way overexcited. Anyway, back to work, and great that I have cherished this long-awaiting this release throughout the day.
|
Glad to hear everything is working for you and met your expectations megaargon!!! now please be considerate and help others that may be having problems with their installation since your experience I would say was perfect. I know you have patiently waited for the release and thank you for being so! We thought you went to Linux for some comfort or you were not so happy with the progress of this release timeframe, LOL, just kidding. Enjoy the release and don't hesitate to post any issues.
We will be more than happy to hear from you in the long run. Remember this is a family, a community for all that is are AMD-types. Let's all sustain positive relationships with one another as acquaintances and remain as a whole, and keep our ears and eyes open for Zephyroth, God of the AMD MAC. =) Quote:

Definitely I will help. Funny I did not stick with Linux at all. Enjoying this release every bit. Thanks.

Ok, got my 6800GS fully working. I installed the latest NVinject, then I proceeded to install Zephs Universal NVidia Installer, clicked only the new kexts, not the NVinject in the installer (note - I installed the latest NVinject already via terminal) then when it was all installed I went in the extensions folder added my dev id to the info.plist files, repaired permissions etc.. rebooted, applied the cpuid-graphics patcher, rebooted and boom! Everything works!!!

Ok I just finished installing and my testing.
conclusion was I couldn't boot from guid partition because the first disk always read rdisk0s2 And sofar The only way to make the first partition read as rdisk0s1 was to use mbr. at least It still has efi installed. Maybe somebody can work out the guid install and post it. I also noticed that during -s when booting from disk you couldn't use sudo, su or passwd . but i found a NEAT trick, as the install on disk is in its last minute get ready for the countdown to off, as it counts down click the utilities and terminal. an now you can do you fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 ........... and set the boot partition as active. I also tried the AppleUpdateDone touch, but it didn't seem to work, as I still had to passwd change and su. one major flaw is my 3800x2 only has one core in system view, im not sure if it's the 9.2 or just a flag for stability, but I think when I workout where the cpu=1 is hiding it will go back to normal. Also Need another few fixes will prob try to load with -s on first boot next time and see if I can get around the passwd setting, and remain as root, using the TOUCH .......AppleUpdateDone. So good luck im sure in mbr mode most should have no troubles. If the mod could start a thread about using guid partitioning and make it a sticky we may work it out faster. It seems to have worked for some. |

I don't know how you could use both the 9.1.0 and 9.2.0 kernels... That's the guts of the whole system - everything else is built on that. You choose one of the kernels (NOT choosing 9.1 or 9.2 loads the 9.0.0 SSE2/SSE3 kernel...) I don't know about re-naming the partition. Mine are always short and simple... EDIT: I've got this working well on my "2nd Zephyroth" machine - still using an external HD - specs: 2nd of 3 working installs: Zephyroth 10.5.2 - MBR + EFI - 9.2.0 MB: Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9 - nForce 6100/430 (I/O Winbond W86327) Socket 939 CPU: Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ Drives: 2 SATA, IDE DVD burner - Boots OSx86 from external USB, Firewire drives work Video: Gigabyte 8600GTS 256MB PCIe ( supported natively - QE/CI ) LAN: Airlink101 AWLL3026 802.11g USB (ZyDas software for 10.4.x) onboard RTL8201 disabled USB: 1.0 & 2.0 (supported natively & working properly) Firewire: Onboard VIA VT6307 IEEE1394 controller (supported natively) Audio: Onboard Realtek ALC880 - ANALOG AND DIGITAL (S/PDIF) working with AppleHDA "beta4some861_880Installer" Toast 8.0.3 - working MS Home & Student 2008 - working GarageBand - needs Marvin... Transmission 1.05 - working Time Machine, iTunes, QuickTime, Front Row, all the built-in apps I've tried - working This is running nice... |
I've finished the download and burned and testing :S
no good result like with the 10.5.1 DVD i try to boot with -v and show me still waiting boot device or somethin like that then i use -f -v and load but when i try to find my hd in disk utility dont appear, my dvd-rom doesn't appear too :S what can i do? i wanna install this masterpiece :) cya and tnx for readme :) |

I have installed Zephiroth 10.5.2 yesterday evening, all went well just OOTB, except for some little issue:
- I had to replace graphics kext with the ones I backed up from 10.5.1 because of some graphics artifacts on 8800GT 512MB, now System Profiler reports 771MB video RAM as in 10.5.1 but everything works very well now. The only edit I made in that kexts was adding the values for 512MB in NVinject.kext manually (it is the 0.2.1 version of NVinject) - System Profiler reports only one core (like I am using cpus=1 flag at boot), but the system seems more responsive, like when I was using two cores without LAN on 10.5.1... need to investigate more on this... - I also migrated my settings and apps from the previus install because now I have installed on my SATA drive without deleting the old installation on my PATA My specs: OS X: Leopard 10.5.2 R1 by Zephyroth Board: ASUS A8N SLI Memory: 2GB Kingston HyperX (4x512) CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Graphic: GeForce 8800 GT 512 (now working with NVInject 0.2.1/10.5.2 kext also QE/CI) Integrated Audio: Realtek ALC850 HD1: WDC WD800BB-00CAA1, 80 GB with older 10.5.1 HD2: SATA, 125 GB with new 10.5.2 HD3: SATA, 125 GB HD3: External Firewire, 250 GB My install options: Kernel 9.2.0, EFI, MBR, Forcedeth.kext, NVidia+NVinject, AC97 Audio |
very cool. now, where is the torrent, please?

Install Keep hanging at the End tried 3 Times with MBR, Deleted my Tiger partition and formated drive as GUID failed again got stuck at the end. I am trying now yet again. Ill Post the Last log entry to see if that gives a clue. It is a Pain in the ass for me so far, but Ill keep trying till Success.
Any Idea Zeph, Anyone else had similar experiences ? X2 3800 - A8N SLI (nForce4) - 7800GT 256Mb - SATA Drive |
Hello!
First of all thankx Zeph 4 all the hard work, got 10.5.1 working really good! But I have a problem whit the new iso. Ive downloaded 4 times, and written it on 4 dvds so far, whit 4x speed, but when i boot for the dvd, it my pc keeps restarting after drarvin promot, at the very begining at mack_kernel system/libary/extenstions I anbody could halp, would be nice Specx:: Asus K8n Nforce 3 Sempron 2800+ IDE + Sata hdds Geforce fx 5200 Thankx! |
as for fun, found this at the end of the new kernel:)
karma check for today: There once was was a user that whined his existing OS was so blind, he'd do better to pirate an OS that ran great but found his hardware declined. Please don't steal Mac OS! Really, that's way uncool. (C) Apple Computer, Inc. |
I checked for that option but that was no where to be found. I did hear people not having the option. If I don't have that option I don't think other users have at all either because Zephyroth made the image only once. Is there any reason why I don't that checkbox? Attached with this post is an image of how it looks. Thanks. =)
Does anybody know if MacOSX Leopard 10.5.2 support SLI Graphics, (2 video cards bridged)??? I would love to enable that feature. Thanks. Quote:

For GUID do this:
How to: Fix the GUID bootloader (Blinking cursor) There's an issue with the script that installs the GUID bootloader. Easy to fix : 1 - Boot with the DVD. 2 - Press F8, then type "-s" 3- type "cd /usr/standalone/i386" 4 - type "dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1 (X is the disk number and Y is the partition number on which you installed Leo) 5 - type "dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1 6 - type "./startupfiletool -v /dev/diskXsY ./boot_v8" GUID bootloader must be now installed correctly.
