I agree. 10.5.1 worked flawlessly on my system until "I" caused it to purposely crash, because of Zephyroth's next release that is currently being uploaded .

[cite] Puttabong:[/cite]lol LohnenNicht, zephyroth's releases work perfect on almost every AMD machine. All you need is a little Brain to tweak it according to your hardware.

you don't mind sharing your account information with us, right? I can give you can e-mail address to PM too, you know. :D

[cite] revhawk:[/cite]I have through part 19 downloaded.

It looks like 20, 21, and 22 are currently being uploaded in pieces.

Note that that might just be what my usenet server is providing me - he could be farther along - I am not an expert!

[cite] revhawk:[/cite]Newsgroups aren't hard. I've never used them but I managed to find the upload as well.

First you want to verify you have usenet access...I'd first check to see what your ISP offers, though chances are it's slow and a tiny bandwidth limit.
You can obtain it from several places pretty cheaply (I got 20gb or 30 days for $10)
I choose Easynews but like I said I signed up today so I'm unsure how they compare - seemed like a fair price and decent reviews. I make no warranties or claims - I've also heard of GIganews and Usenext. Know nothing about them.

Next you need a client. Some mail clients handle binary downloads better than others. I'm actually using a trial of Forte Agent. It seemed pretty complicated to me at first but I'm figuring it out. I've downloaded 18 parts already...

Anybody that has more experience can probably help more. I just wanted to help someone get started. I didn't think it would work out but...yay initiative!
I'm also new into this, just like you but here is my little "tutorial" to get things working (PC users only, don't know about MAC users)

1 - Download one program called GrabIt at "http://www.shemes.com"
2 - Go to "http://astinews.de/xtest" and put your e-mail there to receive an server username and pass to connect to usenet (it is a free account but will do the job)
3 - Check your e-mail and take note of your Reader, Username and Password that you received from astinews
4 - Install GrabIt and use the infos from astinews to start usenet
5 - Inside GrabIt, go to GrabIt Usenet Search and search for "alt.binaries.mac.cd-images" and add it to your list...
6 - After that, still in GrabIt go to Articles and at the end of the list you'll see the files to download... just right click them and "Grab Selected Articles"

If you have questions, go to mIRC... There you'll find a lot of good people that helped me with all this...

Thanks, by the way, what is your current download speed?

You know I can't be sure exactly (can't locate an indicator)

FAST though.

I just got another 50mb chunk in less than 1 minute.

I have an account for usenet, so is this uploaded on usenet

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 03:07 AM

Grabit Says that I have reached my search limit(s) for the day. What's up with that? Any other alternative available?

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 03:08 AM
