Now it it wouldn't boot into GUI. In verbose mode I can type letters into it but it just did nothing after loading for some time.

AppleDecrypt.kext is needed to load the GUI, as loginwindow.app, Finder.app, Dock.app and any other Apple binaries are protected and encrypted, and you can't use a hacked kernel with Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext (which is what does the decrypting on a retail installation and only Apple stock vanilla kernel can work with this kext as far as I know, as there have been reports of "retail" hacks not needing an OSx86 decryptor).

The graphics issue you have is with a graphics driver or drivers, and maybe even an injector as well.

so shall I delete Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext instead? I read about replacing it with dsmos.kext, is it OK to do it?

I tried copying Natit.kext from my 10.5.5 but it doesn't work either (in fact I didn't see it loaded)

You don't have to delete it, the Voodoo kernel automatically blacklists and blocks that kext from loading.

Use AppleDecrypt, as it's the fastest out of all the OSx86 decryptors.

Natit is oldschool. Try NVkush, NVinject or NVdarwin instead, as these are all vastly more updated injectors than Natit, Titan, or MacVidia.

Aren't they for NVidia cards only?

I'm sorry... i tried to install this great release but no fortune...
I upgraded the iso with both PPF and selected all i think was right for my HW, but on reboot i had an ACPI error, and panic. Tried three times at the moment, with and without graphics, with voodoo's 9.5 and seatbelt, is someone so kind to give me a right to what is best to select for my hardware... please. Thanks in advance to all of you working on this dream.

nVidia only is right. Although, he never specified what card he had.

yes .. it was the default kernel

terrorgen 01-10-2009 07:34 AM

well, as a matter of fact, I did. It's in my sig.

Anyways, I finally got 10.5.6 running on my Hackintosh. Everything is up and running. Only one thing: My two IDE optical drives are not detected.

How can I get this fixed? is there something to do with AppleVIAATA.kext?

Thanks, I have fix it up by installing ToH version, and it works ok. just can't read the version of the CPU ..so I guess it is not a big deal ..

at least now ..it is not crashing any more
