I'm pretty sure they will ...
|
They have to release the source to the kernel, but it won't be released until two weeks or month after mountain lion is released to the public. There's no point releasing unfinished kernels from their point of view.
|
Yeah, they release then after the final release, so you won't be running Mountain Lion previews unless you use supported hardware.
|
No news about the applications freezing? :o
I did not want to go back to ubuntu ... |

Booting -force 64 seems let all apps works , except for finder(pag40)in some cases

It doesn't crash after 10 min? |

WIth mi - force64 i've tested for up 30 minutes and all'apps works..execept for the finder that dont copy or delete file some times. The pc with -force64 seems a bit slower anyway :( |
nah..false alarm..now app still don't work...
|
with "-legacy"
System starts at around 32 bits, but the 64-bit applications freeze after a few minutes. without "-legacy" System starts at around 64 bits, but NO 32-bit application starts. |
I compiled two new kernels...... 32 + 64-bit
I used the diff from the original creator and some of anv's source diffs, the 64-bit kernel gives the acpi kernel panic here, but anyone wanting to test both, please try, and let me know if xpchelper and stuff is any better at all, or if it works better, I took all day, I hope this works :')
please let me know anything different, if it works faster, or anything, I can't really test, I'd love to see other's results :) I also attempted to fix some RTC issues, and the AMD stuff, the L2 cache seems to be working (detection), but please test :) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ca8xkkj2xd32y93 |
Testing .. then allowed results!
Thank you in advance ^^ |

"Thanks so much for your reply, I hope it helps in some way, the 64-bit kernel (pure) always kp on acpi, but I know that's how it was for snow leopard too, maybe it will work for some processors, but I am currently using 32-bit kernel, and system seems smooth, although the only thing is I am doing school work, so I don't want to take chances leaving XPCHelper running, you know? maybe this will fix it, maybe not " |
Results that got here:
x64 I could not even start. Need some flag in particular? x86 with "-legacy" system starts! And with considerably higher performance! So far no application froze! config: FX-8120 ASUS M5A97-EVO Congratulations on your work! Very good! You can count on me to test what you need, I am willing to help as you can! |

OMFG Now i know that I did NOT spend my entire day doing it for nothing :') THANKS SO MUCH FOR TESTING!!!!! :')))) Please let me know your results as you continue :) |

@felipeunix you could try booting in 32-bit kernelspace, by merging the 32-bit and 64-bit into universal, and use 64-bit userspace,
terminal lipo -create mach_kernel_64 mach_kernel_32 -output mach_kernel |
in 32 bit mode, some 64-bit applications, still insist on freezing ..
but it is taking longer for that to happen .. I need sleep now, I'm very tired when morning will continue testing. |
I'm trying to install it in VMWare Workstation 8, but I'm getting an error.
Error: A fault has occurred causing a virtual CPU to enter the shutdown state. If this fault had occurred outside of a virtual machine, it would have caused the physical machine to restart. The shutdown state can be reached by incorrectly configuring the virtual machine, a bug in the guest operating system, or a problem in VMware Workstation.Click OK to restart the virtual machine or Cancel to power off the virtual machine. Tested a lot of flags combinations.. -legacy, -f, arch=i386, -force64, -s, -x, maxmem=4096.. Sometimes without one or another. I did the procedure Snow Leopard in a disk, created another virtual disk, installed iAtkos in the new disk, tested the newest kernel above and the other ones, installed chameleon 2.1 and the newest from kexts.com.. But I'm stuck at this point. Can anyone help me? |
I could not sleep so I went back to test LOL
match_kernel_32 no flags, it is a bit unstable. with "-force64" already starts with all 64-bit applications and the performance is really great! even after a long time .. |
The programs are still crashing after some time?

The solution (odd) was to download the bootcd: http://www.osx86.net/view/1805-bootcd_for_lion.html My first try ended in success so I can't filter the flags I've tried: -legacy arch=i386 -force64 -v -f My mouse isn't working, though =/ And is pretty hard to install vmware tools with only my keyboard, I'm not used to OSX hotkeys.. But if someone has a better solution than the bootcd I will be very glad in hearing. |
i don't know if it is a good thing but..with this new kernl xbench execute thread test that with the previous kernel didn't work

Try using this patch to fix. It is for Snow, but it served very well here. https://rapidshare.com/#!download|20...8.pkg.zip|1507 @rayman There is nothing more in my boot.plist <key>Default Partition</key> <string>hd(0,2)</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>npci=0x3000 -force64</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>2</string> |

Mh. Doesnt work... Now I get the USBF line 3 times... Reboot without -force64 works but USB Mass Strorage does not work anymore. Is there a backup folder anywhere? |

Its much more stable than the previous kernel but after 10minutes or so its just the 64 bit applications wont load - everything else works fine.(All the 32bits).
Itunes, Facetime etc - are 64bit so they stop working. |
I'm glad we made at least some kind of progress, I couldn't have done it without any of the original devs, thanks.
I'm going to look at the source and give my diff to R:A:W:86 (sorry if misspelt) seems I need to replace some panic strings to printf or else kp for pure 64-bit on amds.... |
Quote:
before my kernel, all apps both 64-bit and 32-bit stopped working, now it's just the 64-bit apps? this means that 32-bit apps are fixed for you? I'll look into the source some more seems that xpchelper crashes due to incorrect power management of the CPU and not detecting the model etc properly, I always get the erro during boot "hw.sysmem" failed assuming > 1GB and power management may be incomplete or unsupported I'll keep looking when I get home |
BTW anyone know of a voodoohda that works for alc662 asus m2n68-am se2 that DOESN'T cause audio choppiness?
I've tried numerous hdaenabler and alc662, it detects in system profiler, but won't show any devices in system preferences...... |
@rayman:
only replaces the kexts: "IOUSBFamily" "IOUSBMassStorageClass" dmg contains the lion's this kext, you can get directly from the dmg. If used these modified kexts, same thing. One need only replace them |

X64 is working great! Just do not open the x86 apps, but I think we can live without them :D |
Quote:
You could try this: http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=1629 - because I think it supports 'alc662' for lion. |

With (mach_kernel_32) just use the flags: npci=0x3000-force64 the system keeps stable even after a long time. Only 32-bit apps do not open. But 64-bit apps work perfectly! Sorry for the bad English, I'm Brazilian ^_^ |
Mh I downloaded the latest IOUSBFamaly (1163). Mass Storage works again YOHO! But still I can not boot with -force64. Without it everything is like it was with Kernel V4. Itunes, Textedit and the other apps crash after a few minutes, orginal Finder dont work.
Here is a screenshot of booting with -force64: http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/4155/imag0245d.jpg |

http://www.mediafire.com/?ib5x07qbj7llvhj If you do not use "-legacy" 32 bit apps will not work at all! |

Using -legacy - all 32 bit apps work and 64bit apps but after 10min the 64bit apps crash and dont work but the 32 bit apps work fine. If I boot using -force64 - it doesnt boot to Lion. Thanks for your help mate. |

@aaqib7
felipeunix is running the osx on his AMD Bulldozer FX 8120 which supports the SSSE3 instructions that's why he can run the 64-bits apps @felipeunix AFAIK (CMIIW) the -force64 has not been implemented in the legacy kernel yet and since you have the FX series AMD, by default you're running the osx in the 64-bits mode (with / without arch=x86_64) @ryman I got same issues here After several minutes, the annoying xpchelper crashes are still occurring, then most of apps refuse to run :'( @justinster123 Keep up the good work! (Y) Your efforts are appreciated :) |
